Press Coverage
A group of cyclists from Knoxville rode bikes to Nashville to lobby for the Tennessee Scenic Vistas Protection Act--a bill that would outlaw mountaintop removal in Tennessee.
We rode the first day for 7 hours in the pouring rain. 100 miles. Day 2 was better weather, and another 100 miles. The next day, Monday, we didn't ride but made appointments with as many representatives as we could by phone. And on Tuesday, we rode into Nashville with television news and NPR coverage to lobby for the bill.
We were met with varying degrees of receptiveness. This will be a close vote in the House Envt'l Subcommittee, but if it gets to the floor, it will almost certainly pass! If you're a Tennesseean, please call your representative to add your voice to ours!
