Radford University Mountaintop Removal Awareness Day
Radford, VA
February 13, 2009 10:00AM to 08:00PM
Hosted by Adam Wells
The Radford University Appalachian Events Committee(AEC) hosts Appalachian Awareness Day each year. This year’s focus is on Mountaintop Removal coal mining and the devastating effects that it is having on our region. Speakers will include renowned coalfield activists such as Larry Gibson, Kathy Selvage, and Elaine Purkey. With Appalachian music and story telling this promises to be an inspiring and exciting day where participants will learn about the horrific effects of the extractive industry and, most importantly, what they can do to help end the madness.
